About Us
The Association was formed on 26 October 2008, at Bandiana Victoria, following the Reunion to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of the Australian Army Apprentices School in 1948. The School was then located at Balcombe on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. On that same day, the AAS Memorial was unveiled at Bandiana and was dedicated to the 8000 ex-apprentices who served their country during both peace and war.
The 13th Intake graduated on 10 December 1960. The Association is open to a wide membership, including all ex- apprentices from the 13th and other intakes, their wives and partners, and friends of members. The Association is managed by a small Committee, which was appointed at the inaugral meeting at Bandiana. There is a joining fee of $20 which includes wives and partners, but there is no annual subscription. To minimise costs, all communication is by email.
